Drawing and painting have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Inspiration and encouragement in my early years came from my very artistic mother.
I received my BFA in illustration from the University of Delaware. After working as a muralist for several years I eventually returned to my true love, landscape and seascape oil painting.
Painting for me is more than merely the depiction of a subject or scene. The entire process of mixing the paint, planning out the composition, and applying the paint bring me joy and fulfillment. With a palette knife and piles of oil paint, I find a way to portray what I see with texture and color. I usually complete my paintings in on
Painting for me is more than merely the depiction of a subject or scene. The entire process of mixing the paint, planning out the composition, and applying the paint bring me joy and fulfillment. With a palette knife and piles of oil paint, I find a way to portray what I see with texture and color. I usually complete my paintings in one sitting (alla prima) so that the paint retains its buttery consistency. This impasto technique lends itself to my impressionistic yet traditional style of painting.
As a native Delawarean, I prefer to paint local scenes. With endless beauty surrounding me every day, there is no shortage of inspiration for landscape and seascape paintings. As a native Delawarean, I prefer to paint local scenes. With endless beauty surrounding me every day, there is no shortage of inspiration for landscape and seascape paintings. Coastal Delaware is blessed with both beautiful beaches and quiet picturesque rural settings. For me, the sky is the most emotional element of the landscape and is the focus of my painting. My hope is to convey the love I have for my surroundings in a way that evokes an emotional response to those viewing my art.
